Badminton Club is a private club managed
by Jean and David Folinsbee. The facility was built in 1989 and is owned
by Shuttlesport Alberta Limited. Directors of Shuttlesport Alberta Ltd. are David Folinsbee, Jean Folinsbee, Michael Folinsbee
and Tom Folinsbee.
Jean
Folinsbee is a former Canadian national team member
and national singles champion in all age divisions representing The Glencoe Club of Calgary beginning in 1953.
Jean's latest achievement is winning the recent World Masters singles
championship held in Edmonton.
David Folinsbee
has had a professional career in badminton since 1948. He was assistant
professional at the Montreal Badminton & Squash Club in 1948-49; head
professional at The Glencoe Club of Calgary from 1949 to 1966, Glencoe
Club's general manager until 1969; executive director of Badminton Canada
in Ottawa from 1970 to 1979; and technical
director of Badminton Alberta from 1980 to 1989.
